Forest Home Father and Son Conference 2009

Chase and Chuck!

This past weekend I worked as a photographer for Father and Son Weekend at Forest Home. It was a great weekend to witness strong relationships between father and son. I was so blessed by the father and son pairs that I met this weekend. They were so honest and willing to share their stories with me. God was presents the entire weekend. The fathers and sons stayed the weekend up at Adventure Mountain in tents. Friday night, they arrived and had their evening gathering. Saturday consisted of archery and shooting at 7am, morning worship, one on one time, free time, an evening gathering and a late night movie on the field. I worked all weekend taking pictures for the conference. I met some amazing families and I will never forget my first experience on the new sky trail. Thanks to all the fathers and sons that encouraged me to face my fear and go on the high ropes course (with my camera).

Mama Bear and Spor-X.

Swoop and Compass.

Jeronamo led worship for the weekend.

Kirchek is so good with kids.

James and his father were so precious.

I did portraits for some of the fathers and sons that were up at camp. I hope they like them. I think they turned out pretty good.

This little boy was not willing to put this popsicle down. I think he had 5 popsicles within 30 minutes.

This is on the new high ropes course that was just constructed. It is called the "Sky Trail."

I was so blessed by this weekend. It is amazing what Forest Home's ministry is able to do for families every year up in the mountains. May God continue to bless Forest Home's ministry. I pray that I will be able to be a part of that ministry in the years to come and help touch the lives of those who come to Forest Home. May my life be a testimony to those around me no matter where I am. Lord, I love you and praise you for that you have done. Protect and strengthen this ministry at Forest Home so that your work can be done in the years to come. - Amen

Klassen Hall: Dinner and Worship

This past Thursday, Klassen Hall had their annual dinner on the lawn. The girls all gathered for a delicious meal and time of fellowship. The sunset was breathtaking as usual and the girls were giggly and energetic. Of course I ran around taking pictures of the girls. After we ate dinner, some of us played a quick game of Ninja. It brought back all those camp memories from this summer. My roommate, Lindsay, led worship after the dinner with Pami. She has such an amazing voice and was such a blessing to hear after the dinner. Pami did a fantastic job keeping the beat. Here are some fun pictures. Enjoy!

Briefing Weekend

Last weekend I attend Briefing at Forest Home as a camper instead of a staff member. The weekend consisted of morning worship, workshops, free time, evening gatherings with Albert Tate, chat groups and late night activities. Albert Tate, our main speaker, began the weekend with this thought, "Come hungry, leave full." This phrase stuck with me all weekend. Friday night was a great night of evaluation and preparation for the weekend. I was excited to see what God would teach me throughout the course of the weekend. Urban Rescue, Point Loma alumnus from San Diego, led worship every morning and evening during the weekend. All of the guys are genuine and encouraging in all they do. During the weekend I was able to attend workshops with both Mark Foreman, father of Switchfoot's John Foreman, and Abbie Smith, author of the book "Keeping Your Faith in College." Mark shared with us how to be transformed in our daily lives and therefore transform the world around us. Abbie focused on how we should treat others and how to be a blessing to them. It was inspiring to hear what both Mark and Abbie had to say in the workshops. They are very wise and it was good to hear from them. Albert Tate continually knocked us off our horse all weekend. He was able to really connect with the group and speak directly to us. The weekend was a good time for me to connect with fellow college students from all over Southern California. I had a great time being able to see my friends from Forest Home's Summer 2009 Staff. I had really formed a family with all of these people and when summer ended I was heartbroken because of the friendships that I was leaving behind. I was so excited to connect with my good friends again. We were able to go to the zip-line, rock wall, lake and pool, which we didn't get to do much this summer since we were working. I roomed with the Adventure Mountain girls in Forest Center. The weekend was FANTASTIC and I wish I never had to leave. I will definitely go back to Briefing next year. The question is, "Who will go with me?"

Here are some pictures from the weekend. Everyone should look into going. It is an amazing weekend that will continue to bless many college students in the future. Look into it, you could be next!
