Mellow Yellow

This week has been a fairly mellow week. I am working at Forest Home as a photographer again this summer but this week I have been roaming and have had time to myself. I have loved having time to think and take in the environment again. I can't help but be in awe of the beauty that is all around me. I wish I could describe it to you. Living in the mountains is quite an experience. Waking up in the morning to the crisp, cool mountain air is refreshing and the coldness of the night is much needed after the heat of the day. Last night, I sat up at Lakeview looking over the canyon. As the moon was rising, I was able to see the life of camp below and the distinct beauty among the trees. Have you ever taken time to just sit in silence? It was a much needed experience. I could hear the frogs, crickets, and children singing worship songs, all while watching the sunset to my right and the moon rise to my left. God's beautiful creation never ceases to amaze me. I am reminded daily of God's promises to mankind living up here. I have been blessed by God's revelation through his creation and I am extremely grateful. Living in San Diego for most of the year and then moving up to the mountains during the summer has its perks. God continues to bless and amaze me. I pray that this journey that God has me on will result in his desires for my life.

Fall Break in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo

This weekend was fantastic. I could not have had a better fall break. It all started on the way back from Briefing weekend at Forest Home. Makenzie, Kuz and I decided we wanted to take at trip to Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo to visit friends. It was only logical to go for Fall Break. We booked our train tickets and we were set to go.

My train left at 6:10 on Friday morning from Downtown San Diego. Makenzie and Kuz joined me when the train reached Santa Ana. We rode the train to Santa Barbara where we proceeded to walk down State Street to try and find lunch since Feetz could not pick us up until later. We walked for blocks with our luggage. Kuz was even asked if we were European and visiting the United States. Go figure! We settled on having lunch at The Habit Burger. Feetz picked us up with ALL of our luggage and we went to Wesmont. It was so good to see everyone from Forest Home. I missed them all so much. While Feetz was working Makenzie, Kuz and I went to Butterfly Beach with some of their friends from their home church. We played a little frisbee and volleyball then headed back to campus to clean up for dinner. Makenzie and I went with our FoHo (Forest Home) friends to dinner in Downtown Santa Barbara. We all dressed up for the event. At dinner we had Makenzie, Josh, Mallory, Cassidy, Feetz, Sanuk and I. Sanuk kept things interesting throughout the night. I felt as if I was back at camp again and it felt AMAZING! After dinner we went to Yogurtland. The frozen yogurt was so good but I felt like I was about to pop. I ate so much. It was all delicious though.

Saturday morning we went to Starbucks for breakfast then Jeni took us to the train station. We left Santa Barbara at 10:15am and arrived in San Luis Obispo at 12:45pm. I screamed and ran to Maddie when I saw her. I was so excited to see her. I loved ever minute I got to spend with her. Maddie took me to lunch at a Mexican place called Cabo with her friend Ian. Ian was such a sweetheart. I was able to see Ryan. He was taking it easy for the day because he had surgery to repair a torn ligament in his thumb on Friday. Ryan showed us around his Frat house. It was so good to see Ryan even though it was for a short amount of time. Ian proceeded to take Maddie and I as his dates to a Tailgate party at his Frat house before the game. The homecoming game was pretty entertaining. Maddie's friend Kyle, president of Mustang Maniacs on campus, wanted me to run a Cal Poly flag across the field. Luckily they found someone else to help. I did not feel right running the flag since I am not a Cal Poly student. I was very impressed by the band, dance team, and cheer leaders at SLO. I had a great time socializing and cheering on the Cal Poly Mustangs. After the game, I went with Makenzie and Kuz to Pita Pit for dinner. The Pita Pit is like a subway only with pita bread. It was delicious. So good! I wish we had one in San Diego. After a late dinner, we went back to Caleb and Sean's house for the night. At the house we had Caleb, Sean, Rawlin, Kuz, Makenzie and I. We stayed up late watching The Office online, talking and laughing. Everyone was laughing at me because I was so exhausted and kind of giddy. I had such a good time just hanging out until 3 am.

After sleeping 3 hours we woke up and went to the train station at 6:25. We made it in perfect time. Our train left at 6:45 and we were headed home. We all slept on the train for about 2 hours. This was such a long train ride. It took me 8.5 hours to get back to San Diego. I am exhausted writing this and don't know why I am still up trying to blog about my weekend but I am. I had such a good time with Makenzie and Kuz. I absolutely loved Santa Barbara and San Luis Obisipo. I can't wait to go visit again!

Makenzie, Kuz and I in Santa Barbara at Butterfly Beach. I wouldn't have wanted to take this trip with anyone else. It was so much fun to travel with you both.

Makenzie: "I don't know why I did the thumbs up."
Me: "It's like what Rossol does."
Makenzie: "Oh No! I need to stop doing that."

Kuz you are so AMAZING. We need to get started on that book. I'll do the illustration for the cover. =)

Makenzie almost stepped on this. It's pretty awesome.

This dog was adorable and so much fun to play with.

Butterfly Beach was gorgeous.

An Adventure in Balboa Park

A few weeks ago, Leslie, Sarah and I decided to go explore Balboa park with my camera. It was a wonderful time together. Whenever Leslie, Sarah and I are together we can make anything fun. I love spending time with these girls.

While in Balboa Park we went to the Botanical Garden. The flowers were absolutely amazing. God's creation is such a testimony of his power. It is always a blessing to see God's creation.
